EcWorkPiece control properties

When the EcWorkPiece control's properties page opens it appears like that shown in the Figure below. It allows you to select the work-piece type and name.

Regions tab

Use the Regions tab to administer the region list. The acceptable types are:

Planar work-pieces could be blocks (half-spaces), plates or any manner of layered plates. You can model any work-piece where the curvature of the work-piece is small relative to the probe radius and skin-depth of the inspection. Therefore, you can quite adequately model an inspection of the top flange of a rail head with a small normal probe.

Cylindrical work-pieces could be tubes, rods or any manner of layered tubes or rods. Tubes can be inspected from the ID or OD, while rods must be inspected from the OD.

Use the Add, Delete and Properties buttons to administer the Region list. The Delete and Properties button act on the selected Region in the list, while the Add button always adds a new region to the end of the list. Use the Properties button to view/edit the individual Region parameters.

When the Region's properties page opens it appears as shown in the Figure below. You can select a material for the region and its depth. However, if the region is the last region in the list, then it has an infinite depth (half-space) and its depth cannot be set.

If the material you want is not in the pull-down list then you must first add the material to the materials list maintained by the EcInspection control, before you can modify the current region to use that material. You can do this using the EcInspection control's properties page or use the Materials tab, which provides the same capability using the EcWorkPiece control.

Materials tab

Use the Materials tab to administer the list of materials available to the inspection. Use the Add button to add new materials to the list and the Properties button to view/edit the material's properties. Note, you must use the EcInspection control if you wish to delete a material from the list.

Use the EcMaterial control's properties page, as shown in the Figure below, to view/edit the material's properties. You can set its name, conductivity in Siemens/metre, relative permeability, fill style and color.
